FAKTR-PM stands for "Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation and Motion." It was developed to help speed recovery from chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes and has also been shown to work extremely well on acute musculoskeletal/fascial conditions. Fascia is a sheet or band of fibrous connective tissue enveloping, separating, or binding together muscles, organs, and other soft structures of the body. The fascia, along with the muscles can develop scar tissue, adhesions, and/or trigger points that may be the cause of over-use injuries or pain syndromes.
Chronic pain results from dysfunction of the sensorimotor system, which is manifested in soft tissue and fascia. This new treatment approach to soft tissue dysfunction combines instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (Graston Technique) with Proprioceptive (Functional) techniques to reduce pain and return to function.
In our clinical experience, combining manual treatment of soft tissue with proprioceptive exercises produces faster results than conventional treatment methods.
If a patent or athlete is suffering from pain during certain movements, loads, or activities whether in sport or at work, treating them in these provocative and functional movements will promote quicker and long lasting results.
